USL EXPERIENCE:
Most of Chapman’s time was spent at the MLS level, but he spent time sporadically in the USL. In 2015, his first season of professional soccer, he was sent to Toronto FC II on loan from their top-flight affiliate. In his short time with the club, he made 9 appearances and started in each of them. In these matches, he totaled two goals and one assist. The next two seasons, spending most of his time in the MLS, he made his way to Toronto FC II two more times for much shorter stints. He would not touch USL rosters again until 2023 when he signed with Colorado.
OUTSIDE THE USL:
Chapman’s career is illustrious, with his success starting early. Chapman represented his home country of Canada in the U-17 Fifa World Cup, helping them qualify for the first time in over two decades. He played for Toronto FC’s youth academy and was the 15th-ranked recruit for College Soccer News. He committed to Michigan State University, where he played for three seasons. During his Junior campaign, he earned First-Team All-American honors and was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. His talent earned him a contract with MLS team Toronto FC as a homegrown player. He spent five seasons with Toronto FC, appearing in 79 matches and starting 28 of them. During his tenure in Toronto, he bolstered six goals and five assists. Most impressively, his 2017 season earned his club the Supporters’ Shield award for best regular season record, and he became an MLS Cup Champion. After a successful beginning to his MLS career, he was sent to Inter Miami for the 2020 season. He spent two years there, appearing in 33 matches and starting 15. Having made a career in the MLS, Chapman went overseas for the 2021-22 season to compete for Dundee FC in Scotland, a storied club competing in the Scottish Premiership. Following this, he came back to the US to compete for Colorado.
