Prince Saydee has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 8. This is Saydee’s second Team of the Week selection as a starter and third overall. He is joined by Matt Sheldon (Week 4) as the only other player to earn the recognition so far this season
The Liberian forward continues to shine in his second year with the club, picking up two more assists this Sunday in Birmingham to give him three on year. He helped create a goal from Jeciel Cedeńo that gave Hartford a 1-0 in the 38th minute for his first assist. After receiving a pass from Matt Sheldon in the box, Saydee flicked the ball back to Cedeño for the one-timed shot that got past Birmingham’s Trevor Spangenberg. Later in the second half, Saydee played a perfect through ball to Kyle Edwards in-stride in Birmingham’s third, leading to a breakaway goal in the 67th minute. Saydee had an active game in the final third overall, putting two shots on target and creating three chances as well. The 30 year old is out to the best start of his career, and continues to be a bright spot for the Green and Blue.
