PITTSBURGH, Penn. – Charles Ahl of Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC factored into both of his club’s scores as the side edged out Hartford Athletic by a 2-1 score in United Soccer League Championship play on Saturday night.
With the win, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC improves to 12-11-5 (W-L-D) overall in league play this season. Athletic suffers their first loss in USL Championship play since August 1st, falling to 9-6-12 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute as Trevor Amann headed home a low, long pass off the side of the pitch from Ahl. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC continued to push the pace, putting two tries on goal that were both swallowed up by Antony Siaha.
- Hartford found the tying score in the 41st minute as Michee Ngalina headed in a long ball from Emmanuel Samadia in the box, knotting the match at one aside heading into the break.
- Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC re-gained their one goal lead as Ahl received a pass through traffic from Robbie Mertz and sent the ball off the crossbar and into the goal mount in the 66th minute.
- Athletic had a trio of chances in the late going that all missed the target with Pittsburgh holding on for the narrow 2-1 win. The hosts owned advantages in shots on target (5-2) and corner kicks (2-1).

- With his start tonight, Arturo Diz Pe made his 200th career USL Championship regular season appearance.
