HARTFORD – Seven players have been invited to Hartford Athletic's preseason training, which begins on Monday.
Of the seven players invited, five are Connecticut products. Jacob Conde, a Bloomfield native, played for the Puerto Rico Men's National Team in the friendly match against Hartford last season. Scott Levene, who is from Stamford and attended UConn, also played against Hartford last season as the keeper for Memphis 901 FC. Scott recorded two wins against Hartford, one a clean sheet in the US Open Cup, the other a 4-1 victory in league play.
Alfonso Vazquez has also been invited to preseason. The 17-year-old senior at Windham High School is the all-time leading scorer in Connecticut Boys High School history, breaking the record of 126 career goals which was set in 1988. He led the Whippets to a record of 13-1-2 in his Senior season. Former Central Connecticut State Goalkeeper and Andover, CT native Carson D'Ambrosio will also attend preseason. Carson was the practice keeper for Athletic last season.
Tyler Turner, a 23-year old defender from Milford, CT will also be part of preseason training. Turner signed a USL and MLS contract with Orlando City in 2014. Turner made 31 appearances with the club, seven of which were at the MLS level. Turner has since played with multiple USL Championship clubs, including Birmingham Legion last season.
The Club has also invited Ryan Matteo, a senior at Yale, and Connor McGlynn to preseason. McGlynn, who played collegiately at Siena, advanced through Open Tryouts.
Back in December, over 100 players attended the club's Open Tryouts. Nine of those players advanced to a Private Combine which was held earlier this week.
