Welcome back to the mailbag! Believe it or not, there are only two more weeks left in our first ever season. We'll be doing one more mailbag before our season ends so be sure to visit https://www.hartfordathletic.com/mailbag to submit your questions before it's too late! Let's get to this week's questions:
Joe L. asks, "How do you decide on who to start? Is it tactical? Or from a good practice?"
Coach Nielsen: Ultimately, it is some of both. As a coach, you always scout your opponent and try to find places where players give you an advantage. However, you have to look at how players are playing in practice and recent matches and if someone isn't playing with the kind of quality needed to be successful, they may not be able to give you the advantage you're looking for, regardless of the matchup.
@forzamike asks, "What's your favorite scary movie?"
Raymond Lee: Insidious is my favorite. I watch it every year around Halloween.
Ryan Williams: I don't really watch scary movies, they freak me out. The last one I watched was IT at the cinema a couple of years ago. As a kid I used to watch Scream, Jeepers Creepers, and the 'Halloween' movies.
@CTSoccerMike asks, "Favorite Halloween Candy?"
Harry Swartz: My favorite Halloween Candy has to be the little Mike and Ike boxes. I could probably eat 10 boxes in one sitting.
Alex Davey: I'm probably the worst person to ask something like this. I'm actually not a big Halloween person, I don't even really eat candy that much.
@damontweet asks, "What's the best or worst thing you've dressed up as for Halloween?"
Ryan Williams: Honestly, I haven't dressed up since I was 11. The last time I dressed up I went as Harry Potter. It's taken much more seriously in the US than in England. It's a sport here! So I'm going to take part this year and get dressed up. As for what, I'm not sure yet, I've got some big decisions to make!
Giuseppe Gentile: The best costume I've ever worn was Barney the Dinosaur. Barney was actually my first word.
Noel R. asks, "When and where will 2020 open tryouts be?"
At this moment, we do not have a date for Open Tryouts for next season. The interest has been incredibly high and we expect, much like last year, that we will have multiple tryout sessions. Stay tuned to our website, as well as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates.
