HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford Athletic announced the extension of defender TJ Presthus, official as of Thursday. The extension is a two-year deal that begins following the 2026 season.
This season, Presthus has appeared in 21 matches for Harford Athletic between USL Championship and Cup action. The 23-year-old ranks in the top five in clearances (44) and blocks (7) on the club despite missing four of the team’s contests. The defender also has 13 interceptions on the season.
“TJ was one of the better rookies out of college in the league last year and was vital to our run to our first trophy. His versatility, athleticism, technical ability with both feet, and ability to adapt to any environment we are presented is impressive,” said General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke. “We look forward to TJ continuing to step into an everyday, starting role within our group now. We are lucky to have him in Hartford for a few more years.”
In his two seasons with Athletic, Presthus has appeared in 55 matches across all competition, registering three goals along the way. Prior to his time in Hartford, the New Albany, Ohio native was a stalwart for the Yale Bulldogs, being the only player to start all 70 games over his four-year career. In 2024, he served as team captain, earned First Team All-Ivy League honors and was recognized on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team.
