LAST SEASON:
Farrell makes his way to Hartford after an impressive 2023 stint with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He appeared in 27 games and made 18 starts, a defensive mainstay for the club. He was second on the team with 75 clearances and 71 air duels won while tying for a team first 14 blocks. He helped bring the Riverhounds to the best record in the USL Championship and the first seed in the Eastern Conference.
USL EXPERIENCE:
Entering his ninth season in the USL, Farrell has seen great success. He has played in 199 matches with 170 starts in the league, totaling over 15,000 minutes. In 2016, he began his career with the Rochester Rhinos, a former USL club. In his rookie season, he earned All-League Second Team honors. After two seasons with the club, he signed with Phoenix Rising FC, spending five seasons with the team. In these seasons he started 96 matches, totaling eight goals and five assists. His play helped lead Phoenix to the Western Conference Championship in 2018 and 2020. Finishing his tenure in Phoenix in 2022, he signed with Pittsburgh in 2023.
OUTSIDE THE USL:
Farrell began his playing career at the youth levels, winning two EPYSA state titles with the PSC Coppa ‘93 U15 and U16 teams, along with a U16 Region 1 championship. In 2011, he was a piece of the Eastern PA 1994 state team that went on to win the regional tournament title. In 2012, he began his 4 year college career at La Salle University, earning NSCAA All-Region Third Team and Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team honors. After two more decorated years, his senior season in 2015 would be his best. He earned La Salle Athletics Male Athlete of the Year, along with being a member of the Midwest All-Region team. He would tie for third in total assists for the Explorers, appearing and starting in 18 games.
