HARTFORD, Conn. – In their final match of the 2026 United Soccer League Championship regular season, Hartford Athletic is set to host regional rival Rhode Island FC at Trinity Health Stadium on Saturday, October 24th.
HARTFORD ATHLETIC VS. RHODE ISLAND FC
WHEN: Saturday, October 24th, 7:00 p.m.
WHERE: Trinity Health Stadium, Hartford CT
HOW TO WATCH: The WAXX, WFSB.com, ESPN+
POSTSEASON POTENTIAL
Following a disappointing result against Brooklyn FC, Hartford will hit the road for the first round of the USL Championship playoffs next weekend. Their destination, however, remains to be determined heading into Saturday’s matchup, as they could climb as high as fifth place with a win or drop to seventh with a loss or a draw. Winless in their last five outings, Athletic needs to snap out of its slump if it wants to head into the postseason on a high note.
SCOUTING REPORT
Rhode Island FC enters the final match of its regular season sporting a 12-11-6 (W-L-D) overall record in league action, having also clinched a spot in the postseason with 42 points. In a two-match stretch last week, Rhode Island FC shut out Loudoun United FC by a 1-0 score before tying Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC four days later. Despite losing J.J. Williams on loan earlier in the campaign, Rhode Island FC’s offense hasn’t lost its touch, thanks to multiple goal contributors led by Jojea Kwizera (six goals).
BEFORE THE HUDDLE
“This team has everything it needs to get on another run, and the perfect game to end the regular season with – a top opponent who will also be in the playoffs again and is a regional rival,” said Head Coach Brendan Burke. “Let’s help send the boys into the playoffs ready to make some more history for Hartford.”
