HARTFORD, Conn. – In the 2026 Prinx Tires United Soccer League Cup Final at Trinity Health Stadium, Louisville City FC used an early goal to hold on for a 1-0 shutout win over previously-reigning champions Hartford Athletic on Sunday afternoon.
The setback brings Hartford’s 13-game unbeaten streak in USL Cup action to a close.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Louisville City FC broke the scoreless tie in the 12th minute as Aiden McFadden headed home a corner kick by Taylor Davila, giving the visitors a 1-0 edge.
- Hartford finished the first half behind 1-nil despite finishing the slate with a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, Antony Siaha made two stops in the first half.
- Athletic opened the second half pushing the pace, nicking four chances wide before Michee Ngalina had an attempt denied in the 68th minute.
- The hosts had a slew of chances in the late going, including a header just above the goal mount in the 93rd minute, with all their tries coming up empty.
- Louisville City FC held on for a 1-0 win with a 4-1 advantage in shots on target. Hartford owned a 7-3 lead on corner kicks throughout the match.
SERIES NOTES
- Today marked the third meeting between the two clubs this season.
