HARTFORD, Conn. – In a preview of the United Soccer League Cup Final, Hartford Athletic fought back from a 2-1 deficit to Louisville City FC to earn a point by way of a 2-2 draw at Trinity Health Stadium on Friday night.
With the tie, Hartford now sits at 9-5-12 (W-L-D) overall in USL Championship action. Louisville City FC holds a 10-9-7 overall mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a pair of chances early on, Hartford struck in the 11th minute as Augi Williams scored on a penalty kick, his 89th career regular season goal in USL Championship action, to give the hosts a 1-0 edge.
- The two teams juked it out for much of the half, with Athletic nearly doubling their lead in the 25th minute as Sadat Anaku just missed on a back-door, tap-in try.
- Early in the second half, Louisville City FC knotted the score at one-all as Jake Morris took a shot that deflected off a defender and found the back of the net, marking a 1-1 score.
- In the 53rd minute, Louisville City FC was awarded a penalty kick that proved to be successful off the foot of Quenzi Huerman, giving the visitors a 2-1 edge over Hartford.
- Athletic had their chance to tie the score in the 73rd minute as Michee Ngalina was awarded a penalty kick. The striker scored his fourth goal in his last five USL Championship appearances, marking a 2-2 score.
- Hartford owned an 8-7 edge in corner kicks while Louisville City FC out-advantaged Athletic on shots on target, 5-4. In goal for the Boys in Green, Antony Siaha made three saves.
