HARTFORD, Conn. – In United Soccer League Championship action on Wednesday night, Hartford Athletic used goals in each the first and second half, respectively, to shutout Sporting JAX by a 2-0 score at Trinity Health Stadium, extending their unbeaten streak to nine matches across all competition.
Hartford boosts their overall record to 9-5-10 (W-L-D) in league play. Sporting JAX sinks to 3-17-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hartford pushed the pace early, resulting in a point blank try by Michael Adedokun in the 15th minute. While he was denied, Athletic earned a corner kick in the 20th minute.
- Off the corner, Sebastian Anderson sent the rock towards the box, with Jordan Scarlett getting apiece of the ball and sending it home to put the hosts ahead 1-nil in the 21st minute.
- The Boys in Green had a chance to double their advantage in the 29th minute as Augi Williams came away with a grade an attempt from deep in the box only to be stopped. Hartford finished the first half with a 5-0 lead in shots on target.
- After a strong shot by Michee Ngalina was stopped in the 80th minute, Hartford cashed in on another prime opportunity three minutes later. Ngalina sent a cross across the box to Emmanuel Samadia, who tapped home the ball to double Hartford’s lead to 2-0.
- Athletic ended the night with a 10-5 advantage in shots on target while Sporting JAX owned a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. In goal, Antony Siaha made a stop for Hartford.
SERIES NOTES
- Tonight marked the second all-time meeting between the two clubs with Hartford besting Sporting JAX by a 3-0 score back on March 7th.
