TAMPA, Fla. – For the second time this season, Hartford Athletic midfielder Barry Coffey has been named to the United Soccer League Championship Team of the Week. The league office announced the honor on Tuesday afternoon following his performance in a 2–1 win over Miami FC.
Coffey chipped in the match’s opening goal on a second-effort attempt deep in the box during the 16th minute, giving the hosts an early lead. The 25-year-old’s goal marked his fourth in USL Championship action this season, a team-high.
The Nenagh, Tipperary native has recorded four goals and one assist in USL Championship play this season, alongside another two scores in Hartford’s Prinx Tires USL Cup run. Coffey also ranks first on the club in total shots (23) and shots on target (11), and second in chances created (17) this campaign.
The Boys in Green are off until hosting Birmingham Legion FC in USL Championship action at Trinity Health Stadium on Saturday, August 29th, at 7:00 p.m.
