LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
Last weekend’s dreadful result at Loudoun United FC continued an unfavorable pattern for Hartford Athletic—a trend that will need to snap in short order. Saturday marked the third straight goalless performance for Athletic and their fourth straight on the road. Injuries have hurt the club’s chances of finding any sort of offensive rhythm, and their failure to find the back of the net in consecutive contests has allowed other teams in the Eastern Conference to gain valuable points in the standings.
SCOUTING REPORT
Indy Eleven heads into Sunday’s matchup on a three-match skid, holding a 6-7-3 (W-L-D) overall record with 21 points in league play. The Boys in Blue are 6-1-1 at home this season and arrive at the tilt fresh off a 3-1 loss to San Antonio FC back on July 31. Top striker Bruno Rendón leads the club with seven goals this season. Goalkeeper Eric Dick is tied for fifth in the league with 48 saves.
BEFORE THE HUDDLE
“Playing three games in six days is not common at all at this level of the game,” said General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke. “This will test everyone we have, and we have to use everyone who is available and trust them to execute while keeping a narrow focus on the first of these three games.”
