HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford Athletic announced the extension of midfielder Beverly Makangila, official as of Thursday. The extension is a two-year deal that begins following the 2026 season.
Makangila has been among Hartford’s most consistent contributors this season, racking up 15 clearances, 10 interceptions, and 43 duels won across 16 starts between the United Soccer League Championship season and the Prinx Tires USL Cup.
“Beverly is a player that I have had the opportunity to work with for a number of years now, I’ve watched him become increasingly more influential on the matches and he is always a reliable performer,” said General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke. “This is a very important re-signing to the structure and culture of our team. We are so pleased to have the chance to work with Beverly for two more years now.”
As Hartford Athletic’s longest-tenured player, Makangila has started 60 USL Championship matches dating back to 2023, along with another seven USL Cup matches. To date, the native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has three goals and two assists to his name, with three of those goal contributions coming a season ago. Prior to his tenure in Hartford, Makangila spent time with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and San Diego Loyal SC.
