BURLINGTON, V.T. – Despite a heavy push offensively, Hartford Athletic was clipped by a 2-1 score to Vermont Green FC in United Soccer League W League action on Monday night.
With the loss, Hartford falls to 4-1-3 overall in Northeast Division play. Vermont Green FC improves to 5-0-4, standing as the last undefeated club in the division.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hartford was tested early as Lana Gibbs had to come up large for a strong shot through the middle of the box. In the 13th minute, Jocyline Koffi had a try for Athletic on a fast break that went wide.
- The stars broke through in the 21st minute as Ashley Reyes cashed in on a cross from Olivia Beauvois, giving Hartford a 1-0 lead. Just seven minutes later, Vermont Green FC knotted the score at one-all as Violet Rademacher put home a header off of a corner kick.
- Hartford upped the ante in the second half as both Koffi (67’) and Diana Baffor (69’) had grade-a chances to ripple twine.
- Vermont Green FC took a 2-1 edge in the 70th minute as Isabel Smith shuffled through midfield, found an opening, and sent the rock high through the goal mounts to give the hosts the advantage.
