HARTFORD, Conn. – Ashley Reyes scored in second half stoppage time to clinch Hartford Athletic a thrilling 2-1 victory over Hudson Valley Crusaders in United Soccer League W League action on Friday night.
Hartford Athletic sits in first place in the Northeast Division standings with a 2-0-2 overall record. Hudson Valley Crusaders fall to 1-2-1 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED.
- Hartford nearly broke the ice in the 21st minute as Reyes sent a shot high above the goal mount. Diana Baffor also had a grade-a chance for the hosts in the 31st minute that was denied.
- After a pair of tries earlier in the match, Taylor Jenkins rippled twine for Hartford in the 56th minute as her header off of a corner kick found the back of the net, making a 1-0 edge for the hosts.
- In the 64th minute, Hudson Valley knotted the score at one aside as Abigail Danso also finessed a header in off of a corner kick.
- After a slew of chances for Hartford in the late going, Reyes found the back of the goal mount in stoppage time off of a slick feed from Rebeca Frisk to lift Athletic to a 2-1 victory.
- In goal, Lana Gibbs made three saves. Hartford owned advantages in shots (14-7) and corner kicks (4-1).
