PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Hartford Athletic, Alex Dixon, F #11:
Looking at the most recent results, the Hartford Athletic attack has to be licking its chops. Philadelphia has given up 6 goals and 5 goals in its past two games against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and New York Red Bulls II. Enter Alex Dixon, who has had a couple of good chances to open his account in 2020. Expect the veteran to find some space in the young Union II defense and get the scoring going on Saturday.
Philadelphia Union II: Jack McGlynn, MF, #65:
If you're wondering why the name sounds familiar it's because Jack's older brother is Hartford Athletic midfielder Conor. Just 17 years old, Jack is coming off his first professional start Wednesday night against New York Red Bulls II. Jack played the full 90 minutes, recording 48 touches and completing just over 63% of his passes in a 5-1 loss. You can bet the pair of brothers will be looking for each other in the middle of the field when the match is kicked off Saturday night.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT:
The 2020 season restart has not been kind to Philadelphia Union II. In two matches, they’ve been outscored 11-1 including a 4 goal second half outburst by New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday night. Much like the other sides who have gone up against Hartford so far, Union II will be missing a handful of it’s best players as they train with the first team in Orlando as part of the MLS is Back tournament. Those back in Philly will need to shore up the defensive effort against a Hartford side that put up 3 goals on 17 shots Monday night.
