LAST TIME OUT:
Hartford Athletic will be looking to get back on their feet at home after falling 4-0 to Charlotte Independence in North Carolina. The first half ended without a goal but certainly not without action. Goalkeeper Cody Cropper came up with six saves and Jose Angulo nearly put Hartford ahead right before the break – but the ball deflected off the wrong side of the post. The second half continued in the same vein but had the goals to show for it, with all the goals in the final 30 minutes scored by the home side with Enzo Martinez logging two goals and an assist for the Independence.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Swope Park Rangers – Wilson Harris, F
Wilson Harris plays the role of the young and ecstatic forward for Swope Park Rangers. At just 19 years of age, he possesses exceptional skill and positional sense. Harris takes into account his surroundings to get himself in the ideal scoring position. He sits 6th in the running for the title of top goalscorer in the league with 10 goals.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT:
Swope Park Rangers are an MLS affiliated club (owned by Sporting Kansas City) who are the western-most team in the Eastern Conference, based in Kansas City, Kansas. They enter this matchday in decent form, being unbeaten in their last four outings (3W, 1D). Despite their recent run of success, they sit near the bottom of the standings with 25 points. Sandwiched in between Athletic and Loudoun United a win would leapfrog them into 16th place with 28 points. Earlier this week, Swope Park announced that they are rebranding to Sporting Kansas City II for future seasons in the USL Championship.
