Hartford Athletic has signed forward Mitchell Curry (Newcastle, England), pending league and federation approval.
“Mitch is a forward that I remember from my time coaching in England,” said Head Coach Harry Watling. “He has shown his talent as a goal scorer from a young age and he adds to our already robust attacking line up. I’m very pleased to bring him in this season.”
Mitch spent the 2021 season with Fort Lauderdale CF, formerly of USL League One. His eight goals on the season were best on the team and top ten across League One. He also added five assists, second most on the team and ninth most in the league. Mitch USL League One Team of the Week honors three teams throughout the season.
“This is a good next step in my career. I’m very excited to be part of this organization,” Curry said. “Coach Watling has a great vision for me and for the team’s success to get into the playoffs. That’s something I couldn’t turn down. I can’t wait to get over to Hartford soon to get started.”
Curry signed for Fort Lauderdale from Sunderland A.F.C in England, where he featured as a striker and made his senior debut in Dec. 2020. He came up through the Middlesbrough academy and featured twenty times for the club in Premier League 2.
