HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford Athletic announced the addition of forward Ben Mines, who joins the club on loan from Las Vegas Lights FC of the United Soccer League Championship. The transaction was completed prior to the USL Championship Roster Freeze on Monday, September 7th.
Mines arrives in Hartford after appearing in 14 USL Championship matches with Las Vegas, starting four of those contests and recording three assists. Additionally, the 26-year-old has appeared in three Prinx Tires USL Cup matches this season.
“Ben is a player that I am familiar with. He’s done well in this league in a few different stops. His versatility is excellent and his experience is equally as important,” said General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke. “This a good deadline addition to a group that is still chasing two trophies late in the season. We needed a guy that can compete for minutes right away that has the experience to handle any environment we go into well.”
Prior to his stint with Las Vegas, Mines spent time with Loudoun United FC, where he recorded four goals and 10 assists across all competitions for the club. The Ridgefield, Connecticut native also previously spent time with Indy Eleven, Miami FC, and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, as well as Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati.
Hartford Athletic brings a seven-match unbeaten streak across all competition to a USL Championship matchup against Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, September 12th, at Trinity Health Stadium.
