HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Despite a late goal from Detroit City FC, Augi Williams of Hartford Athletic scored a on late penalty kick to bring Athletic even in a 1-1 draw in United Soccer League Championship action on Saturday night.
With the draw, Hartford moves to 7-5-10 (W-L-D) overall in league play. Detroit City FC holds a 10-5-7 overall mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Detroit City FC owned much of possession in the first half, resulting in a slew of chances. However, Hartford kept the tilt knotted at a scoreless stalemate throughout, primarily in thanks to three saves in goal from Enzo Carvalho.
- Michael Adedokun fired a long ball on target in the 55th minute that nearly beat the goalkeeper. Detroit City FC answered back with a pair of chances on goal of their own, both proving to be unsuccessful.
- With the two clubs juking it out until second half stoppage time, Detroit City FC broke the scoreless tie in the 95th minute as Maxi Rodriguez chipped home the rock on a set-up pass from above the box.
- In the 100th minute of play, Hartford knotted the score at 1-all as Williams potted the ball on a penalty kick try, earning Athletic a point by way of a tie.
- Detroit City FC owned advantages in corner kicks (3-2) and shots on target (9-4).
SERIES NOTES
- Tonight marked the 11th all-time meeting between the two clubs and second this season.
