LAST SEASON

Andrés Hernandéz spent last season in the Primera División of El Salvador with Alianza FC. The nation’s top league is split into two separate seasons, with the Apertura running from July to December, and the Clausura being played from January to May. At the end of each season, the top eight teams play for the respective season’s title. Before signing with Hartford Athletic, Hernandéz was an integral part of the Alianza squad that made it to the finals of the 2025 Apertura playoffs. The 5’5” midfielder scored one goal and added three assists over 19 appearances in the Apertura regular season. In the post season, Hernandéz played all but one match and logged 71 minutes in the final.

USL EXPERIENCE

The 2026 season will be Hernandéz’s USL debut.

OUTSIDE THE USL

Hernandéz began his ascent to the professional arena very young. At just 14 years old, he played for Primera División side CD Dragón’s reserve team. He then spent time with the academies of several other notable clubs including Limeño and Santa Tecla of the Primera División and FC Dallas of the MLS. In 2021, at the age of 21, Hernandéz got his shot in the first division with CD Platense Zacatecoluca. He made nine appearances in the Apertura season and three in the playoffs, helping to advance CD Platense to the Apertura final, where they fell 2-1 to Alianza. The next two and a half years saw the young central midfielder make 73 appearances, notch two goals and add seven assists, along with taking two more trips to the post season. In the mid-season break of 2024, Hernandéz was transferred to Alianza, one of the winningest clubs in the Primera División. They went on to win the Clausura tournament, with Hernandéz playing 59 minutes in the final match versus Limeño. The 2025 Clausura tournament once again saw Alianza defeat Limeño, with Hernandéz playing all five games of the playoffs and earning 70 minutes in the final. 

At the international level, Hernandéz has one cap and one goal for the El Salvador U23 national team, along with two appearances for the senior team.
