LAS VEGAS, N.V. – A first-half tally on a penalty kick by Hartford Athletic was answered with a second-half strike from Las Vegas Lights FC, ultimately resulting in a 1-1 draw between the two clubs in United Soccer League Championship action on Saturday night.
Hartford now sits with a 9-5-11 (W-L-D) overall mark in league play. Las Vegas moves to 9-10-6 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Las Vegas took advantage of being on home turf, ripping two shots within the first 20 minutes on goal that were both swallowed up by Hartford goalkeeper Enzo Carvalho.
- In the 33rd minute, Athletic earned a penalty kick, with Michee Ngalina taking the attempt and scoring to put the Boys in Green ahead, 1-0. Las Vegas responded with three more tries before the halftime break, including one that hit woodwork, however all three proved to be unsuccessful.
- Las Vegas Lights kept up the pressure in the second half, eventually knotting the score at 1-all in the 70th minute as Manuel Arteaga pushed home a rebound from an initial save by Carvalho.
- The hosts owned the advantage in shots on goal (5-2) while Harford owned a 7-4 advantage on corner kicks. Between the pipes, Carvalho made three saves for Athletic.
SERIES NOTES
- Tonight marked the fourth all-time meeting between the two clubs, with Hartford owning the series, 3-0-1.
