HARTFORD, Conn. – For the second straight season, Hartford Athletic is set to host the semifinal round of the United Soccer League Cup, taking on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC with the hopes of advancing to the final of the tournament for the second consecutive season. Kickoff on Tuesday, September 8th is slated for 7:00 p.m.

CUP DEFENSE CONTINUES
A season ago, Hartford hosted Greenville Triumph FC in the semifinal round of the USL Cup, toppling their opponent 3-1 en route to an eventual Cup championship. In 2026, Athletic find themselves in familiar territory, hosting USL Championship side Colorado Springs in what will be a much more difficult matchup. However, Hartford’s recent turn of the tide—most importantly on the offensive side of the ball, as reflected in their four-match win streak dating back to the quarterfinal round of the Cup—will hopefully translate to continued success on Tuesday night.
SCOUTING REPORT
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC went 4-0-0 in the group stage of the Prinx Tires USL Cup, defeating Phoenix Rising FC, New Mexico United, El Paso Locomotive FC, and Orange County SC. In the quarterfinal round, they topped Spokane Velocity FC via penalty kicks. En route to their semifinal appearance, goalkeeper Colin Shutler posted three clean sheets. In 2026 USL Championship action, Colorado Springs holds a 9-9-4 overall record, with just three of those wins coming on the road.
