LAST TIME OUT:
Hartford Athletic put in a thrilling performance against midtable Birmingham Legion. The fixture was a tale of two halves; with the first not offering much in the way of action. The second half saw Hartford put four goals past the opposition keeper in 30 minutes. Jose Angulo set the tone two minutes in at the 47’ as he threatened with a headed effort at the goal but was denied by a goal-line clearance from the Legion defense. This didn’t discourage Jose however, and he made most of his second opportunity at minute 56’. Angulo’s Colombian compatriot Danny Bedoya also found the back of the net with his 25 yard belter at the 62nd minute. Hartford knew they had to put the game to bed, and that's exactly what they did. Danny Barrera and Wojciech Wojcik completed the 4-0 routing of Birmingham Legion in the final 10 minutes of game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Hartford Athletic #46 MF, Danny Bedoya:
Danny Bedoya goes into this match knowing it will be the conclusion of his loan at Hartford Athletic. In his eight matches since joining on July 18 he’s tallied two goals and an assist. Bedoya has a chance to end this season on a high note. In his last outing against Birmingham Legion he chipped in with a goal and an assist and earned a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week.
Tampa Bay Rowdies #13 F, Sebastian Guenzatti:
Sebastian Guenzatti is a striker the Athletic defense will have to keep a special eye on, as they try to contain one of the most prolific goal scorers in the USL. With a whopping 18 goals this season, he sits tied in second for the most goals scored in the league. Against a Hartford side that has conceded the most goals in the conference, Guenzatti, who has scored four in his last six, knows he’ll have a few chances at goal this Saturday.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT:
Tampa Bay Rowdies, the southernmost club in the Eastern Conference, come to Hartford for the final week of the USL Championship season. Tampa Bay took the first meeting between the teams, 4-0. The standings have them placed in a precarious fourth position with 58 points. Only 3 points separate 3rd and 6th place in the Eastern Conference (60-57). Despite being a top-four side, their recent form would suggest otherwise. They’ve managed to win only one of their last six games (1W, 3D, 2L). Hartford knows better than to underestimate their opposition as Tampa Bay look to end their season on a high following some unfortunate results as well.
