Hartford Athletic announced that Jon Kempin and Luis Argudo joined the Club on loan from the Columbus Crew today. In a corresponding move, Scott DeVoss and Klisman Sousa were sent to FC Tucson of USL League 1.
Kempin made 5 starts with the Crew in 2018. He made 10 saves, and the Crew recorded a record of 2-1-2 with 8 points with him in net. Kempin spent 2017 in Los Angeles where he started 7 matches with 2 clean sheets. Kempin, who was a homegrown signing by Sporting KC at the age of 17, spent 6 years in the KC organization where he played with Hartford Athletic Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen. Kempin played for the United States Under-23s, featuring for the U.S. U-23 side in a friendly against Brazil on November 11, 2015. That same year, he was named to the United States Men’s National Team roster for the first time in his career to take part in manager Jurgen Klinsmann’s January Camp.
2018 was Argudo's professional debut. He appeared in 18 games for the Crew, starting 6. Arugdo played collegiately at Wake Forest for 2 seasons where he scored 9 goals and added 10 assists. The Crew selected him 67th overall in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. He has made one appearance for the Crew so far in 2019, coming in in the 65' against the Philadelphia Union.
